Senior Scientist I/II, CyTOF

Job Description:

The Foundational Immunology Department is committed to advancing drug development through the deeper understanding of disease facilitated by deep immune cell profiling. The Senior Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing new CyTOF panels and executing advanced analysis to enable immuno-profiling of disease from human samples and preclinical models. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology and autoimmunity and a demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments independently. The successful candidate will have expertise in CyTOF and advanced multi-dimensional analysis.  The ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, represent program-related work to senior management and external collaborators will be required. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory
• Independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions
• Demonstrate the ability to resolve project hurdles by utilizing available information and technical expertise
• Execute high throughput CyTOF analysis of human samples
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies in particular advanced analytic analysis
• Work effectively with a team in a matrix environment
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific forums
• Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, controlled drugs and radioactive compounds
• May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Ph.D. and 3-5 years of experience 
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups in a fast-paced discovery team setting
• Effectively communicate cross-functionally with team members throughout the organization

Key AbbVie Competencies:

• Leader in advanced analysis of large and complex datasets (expertise in supervised and unsupervised analysis, willing to lead and advance the field of multi-dimensional analysis)
• Expertise in CyTOF (HELIOS)
• Expertise in multi-dimensional flow cytometry desired, but not required
• Experience in supervising technical associates desired but not required
• Preferred experience with instrument automation
