Executive Director, Global Commercial Development, Neurotoxins

  • Single, accountable owner for the overall pipeline commercial, portfolio and franchise strategy
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant portfolio and franchise specific growth opportunities
  • Serve as the Global Pipeline (upstream) Franchise lead in Strategic Business Planning workstreams, Governance Boards, and Business Unit Meetings, influencing and driving the development of the associated long-term strategy, road map and pipeline commercial plan
  • Lead and/or direct all Franchise specific and portfolio strategy initiatives through development stage gate decision milestones to commercialization
  • Work closely with the Commercial Leadership team to ensure that there is a plan to fill gaps for key areas of focus in all key regions of existing business and planned expansion
  • Provide commercial insights to the R&D team to make sure that the development strategy matches the customer needs to secure success of the company in the future commercialization. This includes, but not limited to, insight on market sizing, patient flow, current Standard of Care, market evolution, current and future competitive landscape, value dynamic and other relative elements on the market evolution
  • Leads the development of the early brand plan and early commercial strategy, from Target Profile (Customer Expectation) and Expected Product Profile, to commercialization; inclusive of exercising a voice on the clinical study design as well as into the regulatory strategy
  • Ability to solve complex problems, unpack them and synthesize them to actionable strategy and tactics that yield a desired outcome
  • Leverage strong analytical data to communicate an outcome and drive business decisions

Qualifications

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with a minimum of 15 years of related experience with significant leadership expertise in organizations focused on strategy, capability development and operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytic mindset
  • Solid business acumen
  • Strong strategic story telling skills
  • Strong organizational, management, and team leadership skills
  • Ability to lead executive-level discussions to influence complex business decisions
  • Experience building and executing long-range plans
  • Excellent diplomacy and facilitation skills; ability to influence without authority
  • Demonstrated experience leading marketing teams to outcome – either annual operating plan or multiple strategic planning cycles
  • Demonstrated experience with direct responsibility for launching first in class brands, establishing new categories and disease states (A plus)
  • Strong leadership with diverse experience set that helps to build relationships across a wide range of functions
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally, bringing together the best of the business to drive results in a heavily matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, including management of remote colleagues
  • Desire and ability to go deep, bridging commercial and R&D
  • Drive, energy, and passion to advance AbbVie’s mission
