Research Associate II, Analytical Development

This position will support the development and commercialization of antibody therapeutics. The Research Associate will be responsible for the testing of in-process, drug substance, and drug product samples in the Analytical Development laboratory. The candidate will have hands-on experience and familiarity with the analytical testing of proteins, including experience with method development, method validation, method transfer, and troubleshooting. This position will play a significant role in supporting the biophysical and biochemical characterization of monoclonal antibody programs at Omeros to support early and late phase regulatory filings.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market and orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases, disorders of the central nervous system and immune-related diseases, including cancers. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

What are your job responsibilities?

  • Analytical method testing of proteins therapeutics to support characterization, release, and stability
  • Monitoring and tracking of laboratory test results
  • Troubleshoot typical method and equipment challenges
  • Write standard test methods, technical reports summarizing analytical data, and method qualification reports
  • Reviews work performed by department staff for accuracy and completeness
  • Assists in investigations involving data generated internally and by CROs / CMOs
  • Ensures laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained in proper working order to enable compliance with relevant regulations
Education, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

  • BS or MS degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field with 2 - 5 years of biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience in testing and using various analytical methods used to test and characterize protein therapeutics, including chromatography-based (SEC, Reverse Phase, CEX, etc.) and/or CE-based (CE-SDS, cIEF, icIEF) methods
  • Experience with troubleshooting and optimizing methods
  • Experience with routine lab equipment and methods, including preparing buffers, measuring pH, UV absorbance, quantifying particulates, etc.
  • Strong understanding of technical principles of chromatographic and/or electrophoretic methods
  • Demonstrated problem solving, strong analytical skills and multi-tasking capabilities and management
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with peers and management
