Our Automation Engineers keep our cutting-edge process controls and process monitoring systems running at peak efficiency. We provide unsurpassed expertise in designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing Regeneron's sophisticated biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. As a Principal Automation Engineer you will be a site Subject Matter Expert on automated process control and monitoring systems and will be recognized as a technical leader by peers and business partners.

As a Principal Automation Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
• Independently managing or providing leadership to all phases of automation engineering projects and leading all aspects of these projects from conception, design and initial specifications through completion and turnover.
• Developing detailed and accurate project schedules while collaborating with internal multi-functional teams, end users, and third party contacts to design, develop, document and maintain software architecture deliverables for various projects for both embedded and application software.
• Applying state of the art techniques to develop automation solutions or improve automation processes.
• Providing solutions to sophisticated problems through modification of standard technical principles that reflect understanding of business objectives and quality implications.
• Leading, supporting, and performing investigations relating to complex manufacturing deviations and anomalies associated with automation systems and control system software.
• Providing guidance and developing engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans for cGMP process equipment and follow GAMP 5 guidelines.
• Leading multiple manufacturing process control projects related to corrective action, equipment performance improvement, and new equipment.
• Conducting engineering studies and investigations, and preparing reports for engineering leadership.
• Supervising a small group of senior engineers, junior engineers and contractors while providing engineering guidance across the business.

To be considered for our Principal Automation Engineer position, we prefer a BS in Engineering or a related field. We expect you to have least 8 years of experience in the design and maintenance of process control systems and/or data acquisition systems. You should be able to demonstrate strong skills developing, troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs and HMI systems in a pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing facility. Experience managing change controls and design documentation updates in a GMP environment preferred. We may also consider applicants with 5 years of proven, relevant experience as a Senior Automation Engineer. Level will be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.

We use Allen-Bradley and Siemens control system products and video graphic chart recorders; specific knowledge with these products is ideal. Our Automation Engineers are smart, flexible troubleshooters. We thrive in a culture of trust, teamwork, and transparency.
