The Scientist II, Analytical Sciences - Gene Therapy Early Pipeline, supports early-stage recombinant adenovirus-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy pipeline portfolio.

  • Develops and optimizes methods for extraction of DNA, RNA and proteins followed by testing using various molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, PCR, qRT-PCR, Immunofluorescence, Western blotting and ELISA to support characterization of novel AAV gene therapy vectors and cell line development.
  • Develops and executes ddPCR and ELISA assays for genomic titer, capsid titer and other testing's as required to enable progression of early pipeline development projects in timely fashion.
  • Supports or contributes to development or optimization of new analytical methods for characterization of gene therapy drug products and drug substances.
  • Develops vector lot release testing strategy and review all testing documents and data in preparation of vector release (COA) as part of the early pipeline project deliverables.
  • Performs a wide variety of laboratory tasks and experiments.
  • Maintains electronic laboratory notebook that records all aspects of experimental design and results, following good documentation practices.
  • Critical thinking, excellent data analysis using software's such as Microsoft Excel, JMP, Prism, R scripts and other software as needed with minimal supervision and interpretation skills.

  • Bachelor's in Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Virology, or a related field with 6 years' relevant experience or Master's with 4 years relevant experience or PHD with 2 years relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in analytical chemistry and molecular biology.
  • Passionate about new analytical technologies/methods to assess the quality of research vectors, including characterization and release assays for early pipeline development projects.
  • Familiarity with standard analytical techniques for characterizing rAAV Vectors (SEC, AUC, Purity, CE, RP-HPLC, DLS, LC-MS etc).
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to work under tight timelines in a collaborative team setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong hands-on experiences on analytical techniques such as RT-PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, Immunoassays such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and Western blot.
  • Hands-on experiences on variety of biochemical and biophysical assays including HPLC (SEC, IEC, RP), osmolality, Analytical ultra-centrifugation (AUC), Light Scattering (SLS, DLS & MALS), capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS) and UV-Vis Spectrometry.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think analytically, multitask and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Quick learner, highly motivated, hard-working and detail oriented.
