Senior Scientist - Immunology


The Biology Department is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and technically skilled researcher with expertise in the field of immunology who wishes to play a key role in advancing novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic. Scientists at Arcus work in a highly embedded and collaborative model with colleagues across the organization.


The Senior Scientist role will be responsible for devising and implementing a variety of in vivo and in vitro model systems to build an in-depth understanding and biological datasets surrounding Arcus drug candidates. Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in the validation of potential new targets, as well as establishing pharmacological readouts for pipeline candidates. Senior Scientists in the organization will contribute both intellectually and experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, presenting data at both internal and external research meetings.


  • Ph.D. in immunology, immuno-oncology, pharmacology, or a closely related field
  • Completed relevant post-doctoral research along with 2+ years of leading research projects in an industry setting
  • Practical experience using in vivo tumor, autoimmune, or inflammation models, isolation and culture of primary immune cells (mouse and human), common molecular techniques, and expertise in developing immune-based assays
  • Candidates with a demonstrated ability to independently advance scientific projects or derive novel scientific insights are of high interest
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or mentorship experience and a willingness to serve as a knowledge and technical resource for junior members of the team
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required
  • A solutions-based approach to problem-solving, flexibility, and the ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive and changing objectives is highly sought after
  • A desire to read and interpret the latest scientific literature within immuno-oncology and related fields is necessary
  • Ability to transform a general set of directives into experimental action items and deliverables
