Sales Force Size and Structure Senior Manager

In this vital role the Sales Force Size and Structure Sr. Manager is primarily responsible for sales force targeting, sizing and structure for one or more business units. The individual in this position will work with leadership to enable strategy, design analytical frameworks for business issues, synthesize data from multiple sources & collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors for implementation. He or she would be passionate about objective evidence-based decision making. This position reports to the Director of the Sales Force Size and Structure within US Field Excellence Organization.

We are open to candidates willing to relocate to Thousand Oaks and will consider remote working arrangements. Relocation benefits would be available for candidates willing to relocate to Thousand Oaks.

Specific job responsibilities include:
  • Engage with sales & brand leadership to frame key analytical requirements for enabling strategic decision making

  • Provide commercial organization analyses including sales force sizing, alignment and call planning and targeting

  • Provide assessment of Sales Reps by tracking important metrics (sales, call data etc.); Assess effectiveness and impact of targeting efforts

  • Be responsible for finding opportunities for improving sales-force internally and informing solutions to drive field impact

  • Lead initiatives that help define & shape the path for improving sales force effectiveness across the portfolio

  • Inform and coordinate downstream impact on sales operations (Incentive Compensation, Alignment operations, reporting, etc.) from targeting and alignment changes.

  • Capture, manipulate, interpret and share large amounts of data from multiple and diverse sources. Ensure data integrity and quality checks.

  • Use visualization tools and techniques to create visual images communicating ideas, concepts and insights to a target audience

  • Manage vendors and projects to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverable

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of management consulting, analytics, sales operations or financial analysis experience

Or

Masters degree and 4 years of management consulting, analytics, sales operations or financial analysis experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 6 years of management consulting, analytics, sales operations or financial analysis experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skillsable to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

  • Proven project management skillsable to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and data sources

  • Experience with advanced spreadsheets, modeling software, reporting software, and database design

  • Demonstrated analytical skillsunderstands the advantages and limits of different analytical/quantitative approaches

  • Strong consultative problem-solving skills

  • Strong client service orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to support key business decisions

  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment

  • Strong understanding of the latest developments in the biopharmaceutical industry, Health Care Providers drug decision-making processes, and/or DTC or Physician Relationship Marketing analytics preferred

  • Experience with advanced spreadsheets, modeling software, reporting software, and database design

  • Broad, working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry secondary databases

  • Knowledge of at least one therapeutic area of focus to Amgen

  • Business analytics or sales operations in the biopharmaceutical or other healthcare industries
