Job Details

Regeneron's Bioassay group in the Therapeutic Proteins Department is looking for a highly motivated Ph. D. level Scientist with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology to join a fast-paced and dynamic group for assay development and high-throughput screening in early drug development. In the role of Scientist, you will develop bioassays to interrogate the in vitro function and regulation of a target protein and work collaboratively with other scientists of bioassay teams and cross-functional teams to push forward multiple projects. Experience in high-throughput screening is desirable, and experience in primary cell-based assays is a plus.

A Typical Day in the Role of Associate Scientist Might Look Like:

  • Develop in vitro cell-based assays, perform high-throughput screens and characterize lead candidate antibodies in support of the Regeneron's Velocimmune antibody pipeline :100%
  • Design appropriate bioassays independently according to the mechanism of action of a target protein for high-throughput screening and lead antibody characterization
  • Contribute effectively to assay development efforts by crafting, performing and optimizing cell-based assays (e.g. luciferase, Ca2+ flux, HTRF etc.), primary assays (eg. ADCC and ADCP etc.), enzymatic and ELISA-based assays, and high content imaging-based assays in 96- or 384-well format
  • Characterize the expression and regulation of a target protein by flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and immunoblotting
  • Design and generate stable cell lines with various techniques (eg. Lipofectamine transfection, virus transduction, and CRISPR/Cas9 etc) for bioassays, and isolate cells from PBMCs for primary assays
  • Perform mammalian cell culture with adherent and suspension cells
  • Analyze data and prepare impactful summary slides efficiently for presentations
  • Manage and push forward multiple projects efficiently to meet timelines
  • Interact effectively within bioassay teams and cross-functional teams
  • Keep up with advances in assay technology and relevant disease biology
  • Communicate results effectively to supervisor and senior managements
  • Record experiments accurately in electronic notebook in a timely manner

This Role Might Be For You if You:

  • Can work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Have excellent record-keeping and time management skills
  • Possess the ability to absorb new information rapidly
  • Are highly self-motivated and able to advise the course of their own work without extensive supervision

This role requires a PhD degree in cell biology, molecular pharmacology or a related field with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience. In-depth knowledge of signal transduction pathways, mammalian cell culture, cell line generation, techniques of biochemistry, and cellular and molecular biology is required.
Expertise in multi-well assays, cell-based assays, ELISA, flow cytometry, drug screening experience is highly preferred. Exposure to primary cell-based assay development is preferred.
