Job Summary:

The Manager, GPM&L is expected to contribute to the drug development process by providing portfolio & project management (PPM) support to the Global Project Management & Leadership (GPM&L) department within Daiichi Sankyo Pharma Development. This position will be integral in ensuring the smooth operation of the R&D global project management function and working with project managers in organizing, analyzing, and reporting project and portfolio level activities.

The Manager, GPM&L Project Management Office will bridge PPM business requirements into technical specifications and will have frequent, in-depth interactions with PPM platform service providers on implementation and continuous improvement efforts, customizing and maintaining PPM analytical reports, generating visuals by extracting the full value of PPM systems and applications (e.g., Time Reporting, Planisware, and other analytical platforms) to facilitate the effective tracking, modeling, forecasting and analysis of portfolio resources and other insights. She or He will become a subject matter expert in use of the PPM tools, support training of Project Managers and develop training materials.

The successful candidate has an understanding of the drug development process and is skilled in the use of Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Project Management tools such as Planisware, MS Project, etc.

As a member of the GMP&L function, the Manager, GPM&L may also support divisional and departmental level objectives and may be assigned to a non-project initiative in support of these objectives. The Manager, GPM&L must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable interacting with many different functional groups and leaders.


Responsibilities:

Project Management and PPM Support
  • Train project managers on the use of project management tools and managing project schedules.
  • Support project managers on project management best practices and associate tools.
  • Proactively identify improvements to project and portfolio management systems and reporting mechanisms.
  • Support project management software through troubleshooting, issue resolution by the vendor and system improvements as the subject matter expert.
  • Develop training materials for project management software and define overall process.
Data Analytics
  • Translate portfolio, project, budget and resource data into consumable information for stakeholders by creating storylines in the context of the business.
  • Conduct data analysis to generate visual outputs and dashboards utilizing project management and data analytics software such as Excel or Business Intelligence tools.
  • Develop strategic analysis relating to resources and impact on project prioritization.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Information Technology, or other analytics-related disciplines. Advanced degree (MS or MBA) is preferred.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree, plus at least 5 years relevant business operations, PMO experience, including 3 years in pharmaceutical or relevant industry required. With an advanced degree, a candidate must have at least 3 years relevant business operations, PMO experience, including 1 year in pharmaceutical or relevant industry required
  • Prior experience in business operations, resource management and/or project management disciplines with proven data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Extensive working knowledge and experience with project and/or resource management systems and reporting applications (e.g., Planisware, Microsoft Project, Power BI, etc).
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to build productive and positive relationships and work collaboratively with business partners to achieve objectives.
