Just is seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist that desires a significant opportunity to help invent the technologies required to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This position will be part of a cross-disciplinary team developing antibody libraries for discovery, therapeutic optimization, and high throughput characterization. A strong foundation in molecular biology and vector cloning is required for this position, with additional experience in phage display and/or bacterial protein expression strongly desired. This individual must also possess strong communication and collaboration skills, a desire to learn new scientific concepts and domains, and an ability to work directly with scientific staff across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and in teams to develop, implement, and utilize libraries for antibody discovery and optimization
  • Design and execute antibody discovery campaigns using phage display to generate a diverse panel of antibodies
  • Perform mammalian cell culture and transient protein expression
  • Characterize antibody candidates via ELISA and/or other in vitro assays
  • Design and construct expression vectors using standard methodologies, such as PCR, Gibson Assembly, and ligation
  • Assist with the implementation and optimization of new technologies for more efficient and scalable workflows for antibody discovery
  • Maintain a detailed and organized record of experiments in an electronic notebook
  • Organize, summarize, and present data and results at department and project team meetings

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in life sciences, cellular/molecular biology, or other related discipline with 5+ years of experience, or M.S degree with 3+ years of experience
  • Expertise in standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, Sanger sequencing, plasmid isolation)
  • Hands-on experience in vector cloning, including primer design
  • Extensive experience working with DNA analysis software programs, such as Geneious, SnapGene, or Sequencher
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong focus on quality and attention to detail
  • Possess effective task/time management organizational skills
  • Ability to work in small groups as well as independently

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in phage display techniques
  • Experience in library design and construction
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transient protein expression
  • Experience with NGS library construction and data analysis is strongly desired
