Job Details

We are seeking an R&D Specialist to join the Genome Engineering Technology group that is focused on developing innovative stem cell therapies. The ideal candidates are self-driven, dynamic, face challenges with a positive attitude and, have demonstrated both strong intellectual curiosity and experimental independence. The new team member should be skilled in performing mouse experiments (tumor transplantation, cell engraftment, and blood draws) and cell culture.

As an R&D Specialist, a typical day may include the following:

- Establishment of in vivo models to evaluate cytotoxicity of immune cells targeted to solid or liquid tumors using IV injection and transplantation
- Perform blood draws, IP injections, and dissections
- Culture transformed cell lines and primary cells
- Perform multi-color flow cytometry and ELISAs
- Maintain clear records of experimental details in a laboratory notebook
- Communicate experimental results, conclusions and ideas directly to supervisors, project team members, and management in presentation form

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor or Master's degree in animal science, cell biology, immunology, cancer biology or related field and 3-5 years of experience. We are seeking a candidate who is experienced in animal models, specifically, experience developing and implementing in vivo tumor and immuno-oncology models, with a preference for xenograft cancer models. Experience with cell culture techniques, flow cytometry (analysis and sorting), ESC/iPSC culture is preferred but not required. Occasional weekend and/or evening hours required. A track record of independent scientific achievement and problem solving as demonstrated through publications is preferred.
