The fluidics group is seeking a senior level mechanical engineer to assist in development at Element. Our team develops novel fluidics consumables, instrumentation, and other core capabilities that are key components of Element’s technology portfolio. We are a highly cross-functional organization, and to be successful in this role, one must have (1) a strong mechanical engineering background in the life science industry, (2) self-driven and motivated to help build innovative products, and (3) work effectively as part of a team.

The fluidics group is seeking a senior level mechanical engineer to assist in development at Element. Our team develops novel fluidics consumables, instrumentation, and other core capabilities that are key components of Element’s technology portfolio. Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the product development of instrumentation and their interface with consumables
- Design and development of pneumatic, fluidic, and electro-mechanical systems
- Build prototypes and fixtures necessary for testing, verification, and validation of designs
- Contribute significantly in the lab – testing and performing experiments to generate high quality data to inform data-driven decisions
- Communicate designs and experimental results with a larger audience (technical and non-technical alike)
- Manage external vendors from rapid prototyping to final production assembly
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, cross functional environment (EE, firmware, optics, system integration, biochemistry, chemistry)
Requirements:
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in the life science industry
- Proven track record of taking products from concept to market
- Experience working with fluid handling and pneumatic systems
- Knowledge working with a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques
- Analytical and systematic approach to design and testing, with an attention to detail
- Experience with internal and outsourced product development projects
- Experience with good engineering practices, tools, and processes (DFMEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc)
- Fabrication skills desirable
- Proficient in SolidWorks
