Senior Scientist, QC Development

Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.

We are seeking a senior level scientist to join our assay development group and be part of a highly energetic and collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

• Independently lead development of quality control assays for reagents used in sequencing and library prep workflows
• Develop and optimize assays for enzyme activity, enzyme containing master mixes, and finished reagents
• Correlate QC assays with reagent functional sequencing performance
• Identify and define critical parameters for reagent performance
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to define “pass/fail” criteria for reagent lots prior to release

Requirements:

• Minimum Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field and 3+ years of related industrial experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)


• Must have experience in the following technical areas:
• Development of QC assays for use in manufacturing environment
• Development of robust analytical assays that correlate to end-use performance
• Biochemical characterization of enzymes, substrates, and buffers
• Knowledge of DNA interacting enzymes (polymerases, ligases, nucleases)
• Successful assay transfer for use in manufacturing
• Qualification of PCR reagents and mixes is a plus
