The ideal candidate will be a self-directed and motivated researcher with experience in the areas of cell biology and in vitro pharmacology. This position requires a strong lab-based individual contributor who is adept at working within cross-functional project teams. The duties of the job include experimental design and execution, analysis and interpretation of data, and presentation (verbal/written) of findings to the larger Discovery organization. The candidate will have an important role in the generation of key datasets that are critical for the selection of clinical development candidates.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in the Life Sciences with 5-10 years of scientific experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, a Master's degree and 2-6 years of experience.
- Strong track record for scientific and technical independence, and an experienced lab-based researcher with an excellent foundation in working with antibody-based detection assays/techniques (Flow cytometry, MSD/ELISA, Western Blots, etc).
- Comprehensive practical knowledge and strong hands-on experience with flow cytometry-based cellular binding assays
- Experienced in developing in vitro assays (both cellular and biochemical) to interrogate molecular target engagement and downstream physiological endpoints
- Ability to deliver results independently and within a team environment. Able to work effectively with internal colleagues and collaborate with external collaborators
- Effective communication, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Primary cell culture and/or co-culture models
- Antibody screening and discovery
- Multiplexed antibody-based detection methods (e.g., Luminex, MSD)
- Ocular disease models/targets or relevant pathways, including angiogenesis or DNA damage
- Establishing protocols for automation, validation experiments, and SOP development
