The Lead Architect, Manufacturing Information Technology, is responsible for leading the architecture and operations lifecycle of the Manufacturing Infrastructure. Systems supported include production SCADA network, network for production skids, active directory, file server, data backup systems, VMWare system infrastructure, patch servers, antivirus servers, proxy servers, firewalls, network switches, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain archival and data retention processes for GxP systems.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to define data and cybersecurity requirements that affect manufacturing automation systems.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement programs to maintain instrument support within budget.
  • Identifies problems and inefficiencies in processes and methods, and propose and implement improvements.
  • Provides oversight or participation on all manufacturing infrastructure aspects of projects including integration of 3rd party equipment to the network. Strong application and network architecture skills required.
  • Prepares scope of work and manage contractors as required to complete required work on within project timelines
  • Maintains procedures to meet GAMP guidance, GxP requirements, CFRs, and internal company policies.
  • Supports 24x7 site-based operations as part of on-call escalation.
  • Develops/maintains support structure processes with Infrastructure team and external department/contractor support.
  • Supports manufacturing application security for patching as well as threat response.
  • Act as Single Point of Contact with Novartis Business IT team and SOC.
  • Guide team in technical aspects of network lifecycle and implementation.
  • Oversees technical aspects of manufacturing and laboratory networks, infrastructure, and application architecture.
  • Articulates impact to and requirements of the manufacturing network as it relates to PLC, HMI/SCADA/DCS/MES, plant historian, facilities equipment, laboratory computer systems technology and applications.
  • Presents technical findings to non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization to gain buy-in of both the concepts and the value of acting on design changes.
  • Determines system specifications and recommend most cost-effective technology to be implemented.
  • Problem solves any network/infrastructure related issues impacting production or laboratory operations.
  • Performs investigations of non-conformances related to infrastructure systems.
  • Other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical area with 7 years' experience with VMWare, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco network switches, SQL server, Active Directory, Remote access solutions.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing cybersecurity standards (e.g. IEC62443) and network standards.
  • Microsoft certified preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing and executing projects.

Novartis Gene Therapies Benefit Summary:

The salary range for this role is from $94,000/year to $150,000/year. The base salary ultimately offered may vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications. The level of this role will also be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications. Annual bonus, long term incentive, health insurance, paid vacation/holidays, potential flexible working arrangements (based on role) and an employee recognition program are available for this position, among many other benefits provided to employees of Novartis Gene Therapies.
