The Impact You’ll Make

• Develop new approaches to predict the likelihood of clinical trial success by using Recurion’s inferential search and high-throughput screening phenomics discovery platform. Use these predictions to make investment decisions about other public and private biotechnology companies.
• Synthesize preclinical and clinical data sets from the public domain toward identifying opportunities where Recursion’s datasets could have novel impact and application. You’ll define the biological rationale and business case for these applications and be responsible for testing them. 
• Integrate your knowledge of experimental design, disease biology, human genetics, preclinical and clinical research to interrogate our proprietary map of human biology in an effort to validate potential new applications of our data sets. Be prepared to suggest and design experiments to run on the platform to further validate your hypotheses. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Recursion’s discovery teams, business development, data science and HTS teams in the development and testing of novel applications.
• Drive potential investment decisions based on your insights of novel approaches. 

The Team You’ll Join

You will be an essential member of a small team exploring novel platform applications, working within the Portfolio Analytics and Strategy Group, and reporting to the CFO, who also has a scientific background. You’ll work alongside Recursionauts who have diverse backgrounds in science, technology, investing and consulting. You will interact regularly with C-suite executives and across a varied set of colleagues from the organization, including Business Development, Disease Biology, HTS, Finance and more. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the direction of Recursion’s novel strategic endeavours with exposure across all levels of the company and potentially externally. You’ll be asked to be bold and agile in leading initiatives independently, and responsible for collaborating extensively and proactively across the organization. Key attributes to this role include a bold, execution-oriented attitude and passion for redefining the drug discovery process. 

The Experience You’ll Need

• Senior Manager candidates: PhD and 5+ years of professional experience in biotech or pharma. Ideal candidates will have professional research experience in the fields of biochemistry, chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences, genetics or related areas.
• Manager candidates: PhD and 3+ years of professional experience in the fields described above.
• Associate candidates: PhD and ~1-3 years of professional experience in the fields described above.
• Demonstrated interest in the intersection of business and science, either from recent professional experience (e.g. supporting business development at a biotech/pharma, VC, equity research, consulting) or extensive involvement in investment clubs, entrepreneurship activities or similar strategy-focused activities
• Familiarity with basic coding techniques, scripting, or tools for aligning & filtering large data sets
• Understanding of drug development and value creation within the biopharma industry. 
• Willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into data and literature with little direction. Self-motivated, self-starter with a ‘go-get-em’ personality.
• Out of the box thinker & adaptable. Interested in approaching hard problems from a variety of angles, and trying multiple approaches until successful.
