Software Engineer, Instrument Control Test Automation 

Y ou'll be responsible for leading the develop ment and maint enance of automated tests for our DNA sequencer platforms. This position reports to the Manager for Instrument Software Engineering and you'll work closely with the development team as well as across departments to coordinate integration tests and validation.

Skills & Experience Needed
  • Agile development with current functional, integration, end-to-end testing principles, practices and tools
  • Test automation using APIs and UI test tools
  • Embedded systems, IoT or life science instrumentation
  • Test automation for robotics, device control and simulation of hardware devices
  • Experience with Linux-based systems

Your Role Includes: 
  • Expand tests, hardware simulators and simulated end-to-end tests for multiple DNA sequencer platforms. Maintain a fast development cadence while building multiple software platforms at once.
  • Improve automation performance and increase code analysis coverage.
  • Develop team metrics and reporting for product quality, testing and performance.
  • Coach and support the team on best-practice approaches to functional and unit testing along with developing and improving the test platform. 
  • Develop a BDD test framework and tests in C# and leverage Python integration for further automation. 
  • Collaborate with other software teams to create integrated automation platforms.
  • Track work in Jira and X-Ray and trigger automation with Bamboo or similar.

Key Qualifications
  • Understanding of automation strategy and frameworks 
  • Experience with the entire test cycle – from test design and authoring to execution, debugging and log analysis, as well as reporting
  • Fluency in C# or a similar, high-level language.
  • Broad and deep experience in best practices for quality and testing, with a drive to keep learning more and growing.
  • Computer Science or related discipline BS/MS/PhD or equivalent experience.
