Job Description

Performs the general operations necessary for the manufacturing operations in a biochemical production facility, including media preparation, fermentation, cell culture, buffer preparation, purification and aseptic operations. Prepares media and buffer solutions; cleans, prepares and autoclaves glassware and components; cleans, sterilizes, batches, and monitors tanks and fermenters; operates filtration; fill-finish and liquid chromatography equipment. Operates computers for process control and data entry; follows standard operating procedures; manufacturing tickets, forms good manufacturing practices, and safety guidelines; and recognizes and reports any abnormal events or circumstances.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Ensure compliance to cGMPs in manufacturing.
2. Establish adequate coverage to support the manufacturing schedule. Coordination of daily job assignments. Identify overtime requirements.
3. Monitor, review, and complete manufacturing procedures and log books as they are being filled in on the production floor.
4. Spend significant part of shift actively monitoring the operation on the production floor.
5. Enforce plant and department policies and procedures.
6. Conduct weekly communication/training meetings.

7. Ensure that manufacturing area and equipment is in satisfactory condition. Approve work orders and discuss issues with maintenance department. Communicates issues with department Management.
8. Coordinate training activities with operators.
9. Maintain a safe work environment.
10. Achieve production requirements.
11. Lead, coach, and discipline work force.
12. Collect all pertinent data to support discrepancies.
13. Ensure trained status of operators prior to job assignment.
14. Resource allocation decisions:
- Facility: Coordinate; PMs, maintenance, calibrations
- Personnel
- Equipment

15. All supervisors on a specific shift will perform annual evaluation for production assistants.
16. Weekly review of new union operators.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Technical discipline (Biology, Chemistry,
Micro, Physics, Engineering etc.) with ability to lead, or
Bachelors (non-technical)degree and 1 year supervisory experience, or
Bachelors (non-technical) and 1 year internal manufacturing process knowledge with demonstrated ability to lead, or
Associate degree or High School diploma and 2 years supervisory experience and/or 2 years internal manufacturing process knowledge
