Senior-level global leadership role that is accountable for the oversight and management of strategic planning and execution of all external, leadership & employee communications, issues management and other functional communications supporting the CSL Behring Commercial Operations organization and its strategic objectives. This role includes serving as the strategic communications business partner to the Chief Commercial Officer and the Commercial Operations Leadership Team (COLT.) He/She will be an active member of the COLT, along with other key business leaders.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans that achieves both Commercial business objectives as well as building, protecting and defending the CSL Behring brand around the world. The incumbent is accountable for developing and leading the global Commercial communications team, ensuring one integrated global approach and execution plan aligned with business priorities.
Reporting to the CSL Group Chief Communications & Brand Officer, the incumbent will achieve these objectives by:

- Serving as both strategist and executor
- Developing clear strategies and measurable execution plans
- Leading a cross-functional team for planning and execution.
- Developing and delivering “earned” media and thought leadership placements globally.
- Ensuring continuous Content contributions by team members in specific areas of responsibilities for CSL’s “owned” multimedia publishing channels (ie. Vita news hub, CSL News, CSL NOW employee app) for both internal and external stakeholders/audiences.
As a member of the Company’s global Communications Leadership Team (CLT), the incumbent actively collaborates with other senior communications leaders and colleagues around the world -- especially with other CLT members who support R&D and E2E -- to focus, collaborate and leverage as one integrated global communications function.
1- Responsible for directing and leading communications function for Commercial Operations globally and owns the execution of strategy and the operational direction of all aspects of communications relating to CSL Behring Commercial Operations, including government affairs.
2- Senior-level global leadership role that is accountable for the oversight and management of strategic planning and execution of external and internal communications supporting CSL Behring global Commercial organization.
3- Responsible for overall commercial external, leadership & employee communications and issues/crisis management.
4- Serves as primary communications counsellor to the EVP and Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Govt Affairs.
5- Active, participating member of the global Commercial senior leadership team (COLT), assisting with annual planning, budget oversight, and development of Communications initiatives that support broader Commercial and Enterprise-wide goals.
6- As a member of the Company’s Global Communications Leadership Team (CLT), the incumbent actively collaborates with other senior communications leaders and colleagues around the world (especially other CLT members) to focus, coordinate and leverage as one integrated global communications function.
7- Manages corporate messaging, releases, publicity preparation, media relations and ensures communications are aligned with the company’s global brand positioning by leveraging Centers of Excellence. Also monitors audience sentiments and anticipates communication requirements and proactively recommends programs that reflect the organization's viewpoint.
8- Develops and executes internal and external communications to ensure understanding, engagement and Company reputation and ensuring all Commercial Operations communications efforts ladder up to broader CSL Group/CSL Behring brand message.
9- Ensures Company’s global Brand positioning is reflective in Commercial content for both external and internal audiences.
10- Coordinates closely with Head of R&D Communications on communications programming across the Company’s Therapeutic Areas of focus.
11- Provides strategic Commercial insight in the development and execution of strategic communications in support of Commercial affiliates globally.
12- Ensures annual Commercial communications budget is well executed and delivered at/under annual budget allocation.
13- Manage third-party communications agencies in support of Commercial business objectives. Includes leading agency selection, ensuring the company’s global Brand Position is integrated and reflective in communications and on-boarding agencies.
14- Manage and/or assist in the management of Commercial issues that may impact the CSL business and/or the company’s reputation.
15- Provide leadership in the review and authentic content generation in collaboration with the Center of Excellence (by researching, writing, editing, leading approvals) and deliverables (such as news releases, feature stories, videos, news briefs, Q&As, website content and callouts) about CSL’s business and Commercial capabilities.
16- Lead global Commercial Communications team (direct and functional reports) to ensure consistency, coordination of all Commercial Communications across the CSL Group.
17- Ensure CSL Group communications processes and policies are established and adhered to globally by Commercial communications team.
18- Responsible for professional development and strengthening capabilities of team to enhance Commercial communications capabilities across the global organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or closely related field that develops written, verbal and communications skills.
- Advanced, progressive professional development training is ideal.
- 15-plus years of progressive experience in private and/or public sector communications
- Applied science/R&D/consumer communications experience of 10+ years is required.
- Digital communications experience of 3+ years is required
Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a highly-matrixed, global organization is required.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, strong presentation but diplomatic presence.
- Business-fluent in English.
