Our Opportunity… 

We’re looking for a highly motivated, flexible, collaborative, dynamic scientist and leader to join the Cell Therapy Department as a key contributor to preclinical research to oversee development of new pipeline programs.  As part of our Cell Therapy research department, you’ll be a vital part of a highly collaborative team working to achieve Obsidian’s vision by translating innovative science into medical breakthroughs for patients, starting with our lead program cytoTIL15 engineered to make TILs more effective for more patients.

You Will… 

    Lead preclinical proof of concept research activities toward the development of cell therapy products  Generate and vet creative ideas for new cell therapy product concepts, recommend pipeline priorities, and facilitate buy-in and support of senior leadership Build focused workplans to prioritize pipeline candidates  Build, lead, train, and mentor an engaged and high performing team of scientists and research associates in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to support externally partnered and new pipeline programs  Engineer human T cells and TILs, develop and apply cell-based immune assays, including co-cultures with other immune cells  Work closely with the Discovery team to conceptualize new candidates and design and execute screening for lead optimization  Work closely with the In Vivo Pharmacology team to design and analyze in vivo adoptive cell transfer studies  Present results at internal and external meetings 

You Bring… 

Core qualifications 

    PhD in immunology or a related field with 3+ years postdoctoral training and 4+ years of industry experience  Experience leading and developing a diverse and high performing team of scientists  A track record of success in driving cross-functional research projects in industry, from concept through execution  Deep expertise in ex vivo immunology methods including human and mouse T and NK cell isolation and genetic engineering, functional assay development using techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine quantitation, coculture and proliferation assays  Scientific rigor in the design, execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of experiments  A team mindset and highly collaborative working style  A flexible and creative mindset; a continuous learner, able to productively challenge and be challenged to generate the best ideas to advance project and company goals An ability to operate and adapt in a fast paced, rapidly developing environment Experience translating high level goals into plans, and independently leading teams to meet objectives and timelines, adapting to changes and priorities in order to fulfill our mission Excellent organization, record keeping, and communication skills 

 Bonus qualifications 

    Experience with viral vector transduction of primary human immune cells and cellular immunotherapy   Experience with tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) would be a plus
