Senior Director, Population Genomics, Global Lead
Location: Remote. North America or Western Europe.

Population genomics programs seek to bring genomic research closer to the clinical interface to accelerate the pace of innovation and improve care through big-data insights, often with a parallel economic development agenda. The Sr. Director of Population Genomics will head our market development and segment marketing efforts in this market, defining how PacBio engages with these large-scale, transformative programs. This role will lead a team of marketing professionals who will be responsible for building and maintaining a multi-year market model, financial projections and market development plan. The team will also be responsible for developing positioning, sales enablement and awareness campaigns. This team will be expected to engage deeply with these programs, positioning PacBio as a consultative partner and the gold standard for genomic insights and clinical implementation. Through these deep engagements, in partnership with the local commercial leads, the team will be expected to bring back product requirements, partnership opportunities and market intelligence to inform product development efforts and other investments.

Responsibilities:
  • Internal champion of population genomics programs and biobank opportunities, vision and needs within PacBio to help inform product development and other investments
  • Be the external face of PacBio for this market segment
  • Develop white papers and other position/strategy pieces to address the different agendas of these large programs and influence key stakeholders and market players
  • Develop and execute detailed market development plans for key geographic markets
  • Deeply partner with local commercial leads to guide strategy and execution – lead through influence
  • Develop and maintain global market model, 1-3 year revenue impact models
  • Ensure continual updates on programs and relevant market dynamics are delivered to other internal stakeholders, including C-suite of PacBio
  • Identify and help to assess partnership opportunities relevant to removing barriers and accelerating the adoption of PacBio's technology by these programs
  • Perform competitive and market analysis
  • Build business plans for individual population genomics program opportunities that include PacBio's full product portfolio in collaboration with local commercial team that include opportunity assessment, positioning strategy, financial analysis, and required tactical plans to support successful adoption
  • Consult product marketing and product development on product requirements with associated prioritization, metrics, and supporting analysis
  • Plan, lead and execute successful outbound initiatives to drive awareness, demand
  • Be the trusted advisor and partner to the commercial team to accelerate and elevate PacBio's engagements in these programs and maximize our business and influence
  • Build and train local commercial teams on vision, strategy and messaging, including the use of any sales tools or collateral as relevant to population genomics opportunities
  • Organize KOL and market influencing events
  • Collaborate with KOLs, local commercial leaders and the applications lab scientists to build proof of principle studies where needed

Position Requirements:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in life science company or related field, ideally with >5 years as a people manager
  • Deep knowledge of or direct experience with population genomics programs or large biobanking efforts
  • Knowledge of genomics technologies, data trends in healthcare and relevant market dynamics required
  • A general manager mindset – must be able to balance multiple competing priorities across near term and longer term, different functional areas
  • An analytical and strategic thinker
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, MD, etc.) desirable, but not required.
  • Experience engaging with government representatives, especially those in the Ministry of Health (or equivalent) &/or the Economic Development Ministry (or equivalent)
  • Experience engaging with large multi-national companies, especially in the big data &/or pharma space
  • Experience engaging with human genomics researchers, ability to engage with thought leaders in educated debate and advise on study design
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Outstanding leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Must have an excellent work ethic, exceptional judgment, and unquestionable integrity
  • Hands on, high energy, and highly responsive
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
