Overview

Searching for a Full Stack Developer or Front-end Developer specializing in Angular/TypeScript to support the development of the ClinicalTrials.gov Protocol Registration and Results System (PRS). This is a full-time position located at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.

ClinicalTrials.gov is a database of privately and publicly funded clinical studies conducted around the world. You will join ClinicalTrials.gov team of web developers and software engineers to build user friendly, robust, flexible web applications. This role calls for more than an expert coder and architect - someone fluent in modern UI design and usability principles, who can work equally effectively with user researchers, designers, product managers, scientists, security and DevOps engineers.

ClinicalTrials.gov is a team at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), a part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCBI, one of the 400 top most-visited sites in the world, is the premier biomedical center, hosting over 4 million daily users in search of clinical, genetic and other information - at NCBI your work contributes to curing cancer faster! NCBI's wide range of applications (such as PubMed and ClincialTrials.org), platforms and environments (big data [petabytes], machine learning, multiple clouds) serve more users and more data than any other US Government Agency.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build robust, performant, user-facing web applications in Angular/TypeScript supporting millions of daily users
  • Develop, create, and ship new functionality for user interaction and scientific data visualization, using modern API's and frameworks
  • Work as an integral part of an Agile product team to deliver an unbelievably great user experience
  • Deliver responsive, accessible, mobile-friendly code of high quality (automated test/build/deploy)


Requirements

Required qualifications:

  • The successful candidate is self-initiated, intuitive, and possesses technical and business acumen
  • BS in Computer Science or scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Angular/TypeScript frontend development
  • Knowledge of Angular design patterns


Preferred qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of JavaScript (including ES6+)
  • Experience with backend development in one of the current languages: Kotlin, Java, Python, etc.
  • Semantic markup and modern web layout techniques
  • Familiarity with relational databases
  • Selenium testing
  • Adept at agile techniques and practices
