Sr Project Manager Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging L6

Amgen is seeking a Senior Project Manager on the Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Team (DI&B) to provide program management and leadership on key initiatives, workstreams and teams, with accountability for advancing internal DI&B transformation efforts. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Executive Director, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging who oversees the global strategy and implementation of Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging principles in our business practices, policies and process at Amgen.

The role is visible and will interact with members of CEO staff, Executive Leadership across Amgens 4 major functions, and will engage in external partnerships that expand our efforts to promote social justice & equity in the community. The Senior Project Management will oversee, manage and coordinate all operational and strategic aspects of our workforce development initiative (OneTen). The expectation is that this individual would collaborate with internal stakeholders (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employment Law, etc.) and a broad range of external stakeholders, including by not limited to local employer, community organizations, etc.

In addition to establishing a strong infrastructure to support our workforce development initiative, this role will support other key Human Resources and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging programs. Project manager responsibilities include but are not limited -

  • Provide operational leadership to initiative and workstream leads, including project planning, analysis, and execution, according to change management frameworks
  • Pressure-test initiative and workstream strategies, approaches, analytic work, and content of executive presentations and deliverables
  • provide advice to initiative and workstream leads and teams to deliver comprehensive, high quality and timely outputs to ensure consistency of approach among workstreams and roll-up to initiative-level outputs
  • Manage project, timelines for milestones and workstream resources, and partners with cross-functional teams to identify & support improvement processes & practices
  • Co-create and design Los Angeles Workforce Development Initiative Steering Committee materials in coordination with initiative and workstream leads
  • Plan, manage and follow up on key meetings Core/Working Team and ad-hoc meetings including agendas, pre-reading materials, facilitation, minutes, action-logs and follow up activities

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Project Management experience

OR

Masters degree and 4 years of Project Management experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 6 years of Project Management experience

OR

Associates degree and 10 years of Project Management experience

Or

High School diploma / GED and 12 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven project and change management capabilities

Competencies/Skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, including executive presentation skills, combined with organizational and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Effective in action-oriented scoping and execution including translating strategy into actionable objectives and ability to prioritize critical tasks.
  • Actively participate in directing the evolution and defining the role of the project/initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment
  • Authoritative command of complexity and ambiguity, ability to see the big picture, ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses and influence decision-making.
  • Strong desire for developing a culture of inclusivity and belonging at Amgen.
