Specific Responsibilities:

The Protein Therapeutics department is responsible for the discovery, engineering, and optimization of biologic drug candidates. We seek a highly motivated individual with experience in antibody discovery and engineering. The successful candidate will work on cross-functional teams and will be a part of a functional area specializing in the discovery, engineering, and screening of novel biologic modalities across several therapeutic areas.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

In this laboratory-based role, the successful candidate will lead engineering efforts to generate novel protein therapeutics. They should have a strong knowledge of antibody structure and function with experience in the design and engineering of new protein therapeutic modalities. The successful candidate will implement protein-protein binding and functional screening workflows to characterize leads from antibody discovery and engineering efforts. Additional job requirements:
  • Work cross-functionally and across therapeutic areas to independently carry out antibody screening, engineering, and lead profiling studies
  • Independently design experiments to characterize the binding and functional properties of novel antibodies
  • Must have excellent presentation skills with an ability to communicate ideas and experimental findings to diverse audiences
  • Maintain familiarity with scientific literature and independently apply new ideas to the development of new protein therapeutic modalities
  • May represent functional area on project teams


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

B.S./M.S. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field with 10+ years of additional experience in an industrial setting and a proven track record of successful antibody discovery and engineering in the form of high impact publications and/or patents. Job title is flexible based on experience. An ideal candidate will have experience in most of the following areas:
  • Familiarity with molecular biology, cloning, expression, and protein purification
  • Knowledge of antibody structure/function relationships and experience designing novel antibody/fusion protein constructs
  • Prior experience working with antibodies and an ability to analyze antibody sequences from discovery campaigns
  • Experience with biochemical assays and quantitative analysis of protein-protein binding interactions (e.g. FACS, ELISA, HTRF, Octet, etc)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based functional assays (e.g. signaling/reporter assays, killing assays, flow cytometry, etc)
  • Experience with high-throughput liquid handling systems is a plus (e.g. Biomek, etc)
