Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mammoth Biosciences is co-founded by CRISPR pioneer and Nobel Prize winner Jennifer Doudna and principal founders Trevor Martin, Janice Chen, and Lucas Harrington. The firm is backed by top institutional investors including Decheng, Mayfield, NFX, and 8VC, and leading individual investors including Brook Byers, Tim Cook, Bob Nelsen, and Jeff Huber.

OPPORTUNITY

We are a fast-growing pre-IPO biotech company in the Bay Area expanding our executive team, and in need of an experienced CFO. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and executive teams on company-level strategic initiatives. This is an extremely visible role and will require a high level of business partnering and interaction with the Board and investors. This hands-on management position will provide critical support, leadership, strategic thinking, as well as design and implement key planning and analysis tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Lead the financial, accounting, treasury and investor relations activities of the Company.
    • Provide leadership and guidance in strategic planning and execution to drive aggressive company goals
    • Develop financial operations to support emerging diagnostics, gene editing and protein discovery businesses.
    • Help mature our financial organization, including exploring public and private financing options
    • Develop processes for effective management of working capital
    • Support growth / scale of the commercial business
    • Work closely with the CEO on fundraising activities
    • Participate and collaborate with the Company's projects and objectives, requiring extensive communication with senior management, board of directors, and legal to improve overall company performance
    • Partner with senior leadership to design and develop long-range objectives
    • Responsible for financial reporting, tax and systems compliance
    • Identify and address financial risks and opportunities
    • Support the Audit Committee and help set Audit Committee objectives
    • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
    • 10+ years experience in life sciences/biotech environment with progressive financial responsibilities
    • Biotech company IPO/S-1 experience
    • Experience in the healthcare banking sector
    • Excellent communication skills both internally and externally
    • Experience in fundraising activities.
    • Analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to remain flexible in a fast paced, high-growth environment
    • Understands the demands of a high growth company, flexible and can thrive with ambiguity and changing priorities


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Masters degree in relevant field or MBA/CPA
    • Live near or willingness to travel often to the Bay Area
    • Scientific background, especially in CRISPR or related fields
    • Comfortable diving deep on strategy and exploring non-traditional ideas with flexibility
