ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Logistics Manager will report directly to the head of Supply Chain for Americas and will define, implement, and control the logistics network that ensures the required level of service and reliability maintaining the balance between compliance, cost, and speed. The role is expected to lead tactics that can increase customer satisfaction, reduce transportation costs, compress lead times, improve efficiencies and to implement corrective actions to resolve logistics any issues at a Global, Regional and Local level.

We are looking for a candidate who is self-driven and motivated to engage in day-to-day operational activities with the ability to work in a start-up like environment with manual methods/tools and willingness to learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:
  • Assist Santen SA in optimizing international logistics shipments execution and evaluate optimization opportunities.
  • Strategically adjusts department’s activities, policies, and practices to meet and/or exceed key performance metrics and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Manages Santen SA transportation plans, annual transportation budget and develops and administers programs to determine the most advantageous and economical methods of shipment for company products.
  • Develops strong partnerships with all external parties like CMOs, 3PLs, Wholesalers, Freight Forwarders, Carriers, Trucking, etc.
  • Develops strong partnerships with SANTEN regional logistics teams (EMEA, ASIA, Japan, and others).
  • Champion efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with implementation of changes within areas of responsibility.
  • Lead the logistics operational readiness transitioning from project to running mode.
  • Manage and strategize development of all aspects of freight quotes and hands-on involvement in large projects.
  • Support all Santen SA departments requirements for logistics.
  • Keep abreast of pertinent regulations and respond accordingly to update all departments that are affected by changes.
  • Lead meetings with Logistics and Distribution partners to review KPI performance, identify improvements and ensure best in class execution.
  • Lead and manage delivery and network optimization projects with key partners to improve delivery performance reliability, transit time reduction and cost per delivery.
  • Initiate ad hoc meetings to identify, support and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Manage relationship with logistics companies.
  • Analyze data to find efficiencies both in shipping times, cost, and efficacy.
  • Partner with our commercial team to strategize on how to communicate logistics to customers and troubleshoot when things go wrong.
  • Supervise the resolution of customs issues relating to the clearance of merchandize by working daily with brokers and other related logistics providers.
  • Identify continuous improvement roadmap & initiatives to improve domestic and global logistics services.
  • Keep all documentation related to logistics up to date (SOP, CAPA, risk assessments, freight lanes and others).
  • Identify, Define Scope and perform any shipping protocol required.
  • Ensures contingency policies, systems and practices are in place to prevent and eliminate transportation (Domestic and International) disruption.
  • Engages with customers (Internal and External) to understand their transportation needs.
  • Provide Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and Quality leadership for areas of responsibility. Ensure function meets cGMP requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 7+ years minimum of experience in a global and domestic logistics role.
  • Proven experience in engaging with key logistics partners at a senior level with the ability to establish strong relationship while driving change and improving results.
  • Experience in Pharma and Medical device environment preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities with deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Self-starter with drive and initiative to make a positive impact.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization skills.
  • Able to find ways to effectively work with a virtual team of direct and dotted line reports.
