ABOUT THE POSITION:

The position will report directly to the head of Supply Chain for Americas and will be responsible to lead a team to ensure that the supply, distribution, production, capacity, and inventory plans are executed in conjunction with demand plans and manufacturing processes to meet business needs. This person will ensure that product is available at the right time and right location ready to ship to satisfy customer demand. The Sr. Planning Manager will define an inventory strategy to deliver customer service goals and ensuring that capacity plans are developed to support the demand plan.

The Sr. Planning Manager will serve as a key thought leader in optimizing processes, reporting and systems to service the planning and operational requirements for our growth initiatives at launch and market growth.

We are looking for a candidate who is self-driven and motivated to engage in day-to-day operational activities with the ability to work in a start-up like environment with manual methods/tools and willingness to learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:
  • Optimizing the balance of inventory across the supply chain network in line with target customer service levels, inventory, and safety stock levels for an allocated portfolio of SKUs for which accountable.
  • Own the consensus demand planning process for Americas, including the global demand for products manufactured in Americas. And continue to refine this through use of Demand Planning systems as well as commercial team input.
  • Create structure, develop personnel, give direction, integrate/leverage global capabilities, and hold team members accountable.
  • Conduct regular business and performance reviews related to demand and supply of low stock SKUs with internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional project teams to develop and integrate processes for product/market launches, promotions, and ad-hoc initiatives.
  • Implements and maintains inventory strategies for finished goods by regular review and optimization of supply planning parameters (Ex. Reorder points, safety stock, ABC categorization, MOQ).
  • Proactively identify issues/interruptions on the horizon and call meetings with a cross functional team to develop a plan on how to address each one.
  • Actively share out progress on initiatives and proactively communicate supply issues and risk mitigation plans as needed and at meetings to multiple levels of management.
  • Support launches, promotions, and core business with assessments of operational factors combining sales, inventory, and production to measure performance and sell through to manage risks mitigation efforts in an end-to-end perspective.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario plans to project risk to liability and service levels and make recommendations on operational business decisions. Report out to cross-functional stakeholders on key takeaways and actions needed.
  • Work closely with Global Supply Chain, Regional Planning Teams and Product supply functions such as External Manufacturing & Sourcing (EM&S) in US and globally in EU, Japan, and Asia Pacific Santen offices
  • Lead cross-functional Sales and Operations Planning (“S&OP”) process working directly with regional leaders.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of existing processes and standards for SCM, in collaboration with global team to achieve process efficiency and standardization.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure that all regional supply chain processes and procedures are per GMP/GDP requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity in manual processes and eventually in ERP systems when implemented.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Transportation and the DC to expedite supply if needed.
  • Manage the potential obsolescence to minimize inventory liabilities and drive Root Cause Problem Solving and action planning/execution.
  • Use historical data to create supply chain forecasts.
  • Builds connections across departments to facilitate effective and efficient communication.
  • Execute special projects as needed. Able to flex with the needs of the business and able to jump in to support various departments as needed.
  • Manage junior Supply Chain planning personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a focus on Supply Chain Management or Engineering or analytical focus.
  • 10 years minimum of progressive Supply Chain experience with strong understanding of end-to-end processes.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Results focused and customer service oriented.
  • Advance level in Excel, Understanding of Visio, Access, and Projects
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities with deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Self-starter with drive and initiative to make a positive impact.
  • Must possess good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical and Lean production supply chain principles, FDA, GMPs.

Preferred Experience:
  • Managing a global product portfolio.
  • Launching new product.
  • Pharmaceutical or Medical Device background.
  • Career growth mindset with leadership qualities and an appetite for learning.
  • APICS certification.
  • SAP knowledge.
