Analyst, QC Automation Technologies

We are looking for a talented and motivated Analyst to join the Quality Control (QC) Automation Technologies group. The QC Analyst will be responsible for exploring new technologies and developing methods on automated devices to be applied in QC laboratories. This will include implementation and execution of new and current automated devices and integrated systems, programming new methods and updates, software and driver development, and design and creation of custom parts and devices to support QC automation.

As a QC Analyst, a typical day might include the following:
• Performing activities related to design, commissioning, performance improvement and troubleshooting of automation technologies
• Providing technical and automation operational support to QC GMP lab
• Implementing software/hardware changes and upgrades, understanding impact of actions to GMP lab
• Implementing modifications/changes to established procedures and protocols
• Programming liquid handler and supporting devices
• Troubleshooting and demonstrating knowledge of instrumentation and controls
• Working with scientists to develop novel approaches through automation
• Training users to operate new equipment and extend an ongoing support
• Creating standard operation procedures (SOP), protocols and work instructions etc.
• Supporting equipment and software qualification/validation activities
• Providing support for automation/robotics related investigations and other quality processes

This role might be for you if you:
• Are experienced with software and laboratory bench work
• Have some of the following:

• Programming experience in C#, Python, Ruby, C, C++, VB etc.
• Experience in firmware, microcontrollers, circuit design
• Programming experience with automated liquid handlers such as Hamilton STAR, Tecan etc.
• Experience and knowledge of various devices necessary for laboratory integrations
• Understand basic system design and user requirement
• Knowledge of laboratory database, and its instrument integration

• Have a can-do/hands-on aptitude and are excited to work in fast paced collaborative environment
• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal/business communication skills
• Are innately able to handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills
• Enjoy problem solving and identifying root cause
• Are driven to continuously improve processes for improved performance

To be considered for this position you must have a BS or MS in Science/Engineering, ideally biology or biochemistry, or related field with relevant automation experience. General biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry knowledge, hands-on laboratory experience, and knowledge of liquid handlers and/or integrated robotic systems are a plus.
