Job Summary

This role will be part of the Thousand Oaks-based Manufacturing Finance team. This individual will support a team that is responsible for planning and analyzing financial results for the manufacturing activities led by Thousand Oaks-based Operations leaders. The scope of responsibility shall include support of Amgen External Supply including Amgen Contract Development Manufacturing, Ops Raw Materials, Ops Devices and Secondary Packaging teams. As part of planning financial results for these organizations, this role also supports the annual standard cost creation process for the goods manufactured by the Operations areas that he/she supports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the financial expense planning processes for Amgen External Supply, including Amgen Contract Development Manufacturing, Ops Raw Materials and Devices/Secondary packaging. This includes monthly close, quarterly forecasting and annual planning activities, which includes headcount, operating expense, capital and COGM planning.

  • Support the preparation of the monthly financial close packages, including variance analysis for internal clients.

  • Complete the annual budget process, execute quarterly forecasts, and analyze actual financial results relative to planned results on a monthly basis.

  • Document key work streams and other supporting material to ensure standardization and consistency in reporting and planning.

  • Research and document internal accounting and finance work streams for purposes of educating internal clients.

  • Support SAP based annual standard cost development process for the areas of Operations.

  • Provide support to Operations senior management to consolidate data across all Amgen manufacturing sites in order to prepare reports for the Operations Leadership Team.

  • Provide client support, as needed

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Finance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Finance experience

OR

Associate degree and 10 years of Finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of finance experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business and/or MBA degree

  • Certified public accountant or past experience working in accounting (with preference for experience in cost accounting and/or manufacturing finance)

  • Proficiency with SAP, Hyperion and/or other large ERP and consolidation tools

  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint proficiency

  • Experience supporting senior leaders of an organization as an FP&A business partner or in some other advisory capacity

  • Experience in preparing executive communication to include written and oral presentations

  • Problem solving and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify and solve vaguely defined problems

  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to influence at all levels with a customer service mindset

  • Ability to take initiative and work within an autonomous environment
