Amgen is seeking an Accounting Manager who will play a key role in Global Intercompany Team located in Puerto Rico. This highly motivated individual will be primarily responsible for developing and executing financial analysis and business analytics. The Accounting Manager will provide vital site support for cross-functional financial, analytical and reporting and intercompany reconciliation activities. This role will interact with a wide range of leadership and staff across Amgen. The position will report to the Sr Manager Intercompany Accounting.

This position will continue to drive the FIT teams standardization agenda where possible: encouraging that planning and actuals entries to be done correctly, consistently and timely in agreed-upon systems of record, that financial calculations be done consistently across the organization as much as possible, and to generally push finance and business partner groups towards standardized, centralized and automated reporting where time-consuming, manual reporting approaches can be replaced.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Senior Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform financial modeling, preparation and presentation of results and ideas to senior management and performing regular account analysis to anticipate and resolve issues

  • Demonstrate the ability to take the initiative and work under a minimum of direction; will provide leadership and key support on multiple projects will handle & lead cross-functional teams

  • Formulates and clearly deliver complex information, issues and recommendations in both written and oral presentations to Senior Management; will develop and use complex business and financial models to make decisions

  • Displays solid leadership skills and outstanding communication capabilities.

  • Influences all levels of management within the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Finance Experience


Masters degree and 4 years of Finance Experience


Bachelors degree and 6 years of Finance Experience


Associates degree and 10 years of Finance Experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years experience in financial reporting and analysis

  • MBA or CPA

  • Biotech/pharmaceutical experience

  • Business acumen & judgment to communicate and influence Sr/Executive Management

  • Solid technical finance skills (accounting, planning, modeling, etc)

  • Solid overall knowledge of financial systems and tools (e.g. SAP, Contributor, etc)

  • Strong leadership, influence, facilitation, assertiveness

  • Solid understanding of forecasting, long-range planning, budgeting, business partnering
