Senior Associate Scientist Oncology Research


What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. Amgen Oncology Research is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to conduct preclinical studies to support our solid tumor BiTE (bispecific T cell engager) portfolio. In this vital role you will be part of a cross-functional team with expertise in cancer biology and immunology. You will perform in vitro and ex vivo cell-based assays to inform BiTE mechanism of action, resistance mechanisms, combination therapy and biomarker discovery, focused on prostate cancer and lung cancer.

The Senior Associate Scientist will make major contributions to the preclinical data generated to support Amgens solid tumor BiTE portfolio:

  • Independently design, perform and analyze laboratory experiments, including troubleshooting and optimization of assays
  • Contribute to collaborations with academic investigators or contract laboratories by providing scientific expertise on methods and assays
  • Collaborate with the biomarker and genome analysis groups to design, conduct and analyze experiments that investigate BiTE mechanism of action
  • Present data in department and team meetings
  • Contribute to external presentations including posters and manuscripts

What we expect of you

Basic qualifications:

Masters degree and 3 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience


Bachelors degree and 5 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience

Preferred qualifications:
  • Demonstrated independence in critical thinking and scientific achievement, such as through significant contributions to manuscripts or poster presentations
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
  • Experience with multi-panel flow cytometry and imaging
  • Experience characterizing activity of T cell targeted therapy (T cell bispecific antibodies, CAR-T) in vitro
  • Experience working with patient samples and immune cells
  • Knowledge of cancer biology and/or immunology, especially in the area of prostate cancer or lung cancer
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results to meet timelines
