What you will do

The DH&I Data Science & Engineering(DS&E)teamis seeking an experiencedMachine Learning Engineer (MLE) toadvanceour missionandhelpbuild, deploy and sustainmachine learning models thatcanpredict patients riskforparticular diseases, infer medicines that could be most efficacious for patients,along with other solutions that benefit patients.In this capacity, theMachine Learning Engineer(MLE)willaid in the development ofthe technical and data pipelinesfor digitalproductsthat feature AI/ML algorithms, including how data and models will bescaled, monitored, maintained andeffectivelymanaged.

  • Joinefforts withAmgenbusinessleadersto identify, understand, explore, and deliver relevantdataanalyses toinformdata inclusion, exclusion, and sub-setting criteria as well asfeatureand modelselection forDH&I solutions.

  • Collaborate with data scientistsand engineerstodevelopdata models and algorithmsthat focus on improving patient outcomes across multiple therapeutic areas leveragingdiverse data.

  • Assist infeatureengineeringtasksto extract and create data featuresfromlargedata setsforinputintomodels.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to define model validation strategies,train and tune models,andanalyzeand resolveerrors in models.

  • Drivemachine learningmodel deploymentto production.


What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+yearsexperienceas a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, orData Scientist.

  • Some familiarity withdevelopingproduction-level ML systems

  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling,and software architecture.

  • Experience in an object-oriented programming language, Python preferred.

  • Familiarity withubiquitousmachinelearningalgorithmsand approaches(NNs,RF classifiers,Ensemble methods, NLPetc)and when to use them.

  • Comfortable within aLinux operating system and associated shell commands.

  • Strong communicator; caninterprettechnicalrequirements from seniorMLEsand layman questionsonML conceptsfromstakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Some experience withdistributedcompute /data processing technology(e.g.Apache Hadoop, Spark, Hive,Dask).

  • Hands-onexperience using Databricks or Apache Spark(i.e.PySpark,SparkR, or Scala)

  • Experience with commonMLframeworksand libraries (e.g.TensorFlow,PyTorch,scikit-learn,kedro).

  • Curiouslearner that keepsup-to-datewith new ML technologies.

  • Adept atproject management withversion control (i.e.git/Github).

  • Entrepreneurialmindset with ability to self-direct.

  • Experience in managing project scope.
