We are seeking a co-op for the Thousand Oaks, CA Pilot Plant to execute a variety of production-related and technology-advancement projects. This role will perform activities related to upstream processing and will be supporting technology development activities including characterization efforts.
This Pilot Plant performs bioprocessing operations for multiple mammalian products - such as monoclonal antibodies, bispecific T-cell engagers, and fusion proteins among others - in order to develop and demonstrate production processes at scale and to produce drug substance for a variety of purposes, including toxicology studies, characterization, and clinical trials. The Pilot Plant performs upstream and downstream pilot-scale production activities, from vial thaw through final filtration and formulation. The environment is challenging and ever-changing, with varying degrees of process definition and frequent piloting of novel process operations.
The position is expected to be performed remotely.
Basic QualificationsAmgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelors Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelors degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred QualificationsDegree concentration in Biology, Life Sciences, Engineering, Chemical
Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science, or related field
Experience with programming and coding languages, such as Python
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including building of Macros with Microsoft Visual Basic
Previous Co-Op or Internship experience
Graduation by summer 2022
