Summary

BMS Redwood City team is hiring a Senior Research Investigator to join our Lead Discovery and Optimization (LDO) team. LDO plays a pivotal role in supporting oncology drug discovery programs and interacts closely with Chemistry, Biotherapeutics, in vivo Pharmacology and Translational Medicine. The responsibilities for this position is includes, but is not limited to, designing and execution of robust, reproducible biochemical and cell-based assays using the full range of modern bioassay technologies, strategizing the screening flowcharts, and participating discovery program management. Trouble-shooting, data analysis, interpretation and presentation to various stakeholders are also expected. This position demands working in a matrixed environment with close collaborations with the research leadership team in different geographical sites to inform key decisions on compound and program progression.

The successful candidate will also be expected to have deep understandings of drug discovery process and approaches. Working knowledge of cancer biology, cell and molecular biology and immunology. Moreover, a candidate should be able to provide scientific guidance, management, and mentorship to his/her direct reports, and interact closely with other scientists across the Research organization. The ability to think critically about complex experiments and incorporate diverse input from other scientists is critical if you are to be effective in this position.

Position Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences discipline,

  • Hands on experience with assay techniques such as HTRF, Cytotoxicity assays, protein quantification assays such as ELISA, MSD or Protein Simple, Reporter assay, qPCR and Flow Cytometry required; Knowledge of high content imaging is strongly desirable

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industry environment, with an emphasis on oncology drug discovery  with a history of biochemical and cellular assay validation and screening

  • Up to date knowledge of cancer biology, immuno oncology and targeted therapy is a plus

  • A track record of effectively managing and mentoring scientific staff

  • Goal- and result-oriented.  Ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives

  • Strong analytical skill to summarizing data and present to various audiences

  • Excellent oral and written communication is a must
