Amgen is seeking a Finance Manager who will play a key role in the GCO Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The GCO FP&A group is responsible for supporting the Global Marketing Access and Capabilities (GMAC), Global Government Affairs (GGA), and Business Development groups with all Finance related processes.

The Finance Manager will provide financial, analytical, budget, and month-end support to the Global Marketing Access and Capabilities (GMAC) and Global Government Affairs (GGA) organization and interact cross-functionally within and outside of Finance.The Finance Manager will also be a key contributor on Business Development projects and Amgen governance business cases, generating financial models and forecasts to support investment decisions that advance Amgen's pipeline portfolio.Key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Financial planning and analysis of headcount and operating expenses, supporting the financial forecast, annual budgeting, long-range plan, and quarterly close processes
  • Providing direction to clients on key corporate financial policies such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies to ensure proper GAAP treatment of functional expenses
  • Develops executive-level communications and decision-making support
  • Partners cross-functionally across several stakeholder groups
  • Performs ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects as needed
  • Provides financial support for the pipeline revenue long-range planning process

Basic QualificationsDoctorate degreeORMaster's degree AND 2 years of Finance experienceORBachelor's degree AND 4 years of Finance experienceORAssociate's degree AND 10 years of Finance experienceORHigh school diploma / GED AND 12 years of Finance experiencePreferred Qualifications
  • 4 + years of corporate-level experience with 2 + years of progressive finance/accounting experience
  • Relevant functional financial planning experience
  • Knowledge of key finance systems (such as SAP, MS Office, Hyperion planning and reporting systems)
  • Excellent Excel / PowerPoint skills
  • Detail-oriented; strong business analytical skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
  • Proven ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under time
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence personnel across functions and levels
  • Ability to think strategically
  • MBA and/or CPA is a plus
  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience
