How you will Achieve More with Intellia

As an Associate Director, Liver Disease Biology, you will be j oi n ing a company where we a re applying CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and gene therapy technologies for therapeutic benefit. In your role as an Associate Director, you will oversee the advancement of our liver disease projects , bringing novel drug candidates with high potential for efficacy in humans into the early-stage pipeline. You will generate key data for evaluating mechanism of action and/or drug candidate efficacy and pharmacodynamics. Other main responsi bilities include:

  • Leading a cross-functional, disease-focused project team from initiation to DC stage .
  • Developing in vitro assays to interrogate biological processes and test novel therapeutics .
  • Performing cell culture with rodent, primate, and human primary cells and cell lines .
  • Delivering high quality data to help advance drug discovery projects in the therapeutic portfolio .
  • Generate new therapeutic hypotheses leveraging CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing .
  • Propos ing and develop ing innovative methodologies and technologies for project development.
  • Present ing data to other scientific staff or cross-functional project team; may present data/posters to external research or scientific community .
  • Act ing as a scientific mentor .


About You

Are you a scientific leader with deep subject-matter expertise in liver disease biology? Candidates interested in applying should have a PhD in C ell B iology , B iochemistry, or related field . The ideal candidate will also have experience in drug discovery or target validation research . If you consider yourself a strong communicator and enjoy managing a team , we encourage you to apply ! Other qualifications include:

  • Experience of leading a diverse project team to successfully achieve objectives
  • Deep knowledge of animal models of liver disease including both hepatic and extrahepatic cmodels
  • Cell culture, including with primary human cell types
  • qPCR/ ddPCR , Western blotting, ELISA
  • Bioassay development, optimization and validation
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology
  • Knowledge of inherited diseases of the liver, nervous system, bone marrow, and/or muscle

The team is currently working mostly onsite. Therefore, we hope you are currently local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for growth of scientists interested in a career in therapeutic biotechnology.
