JOB PURPOSE

Sana Biotechnology is seeking a creative and highly-motivated individual to join the T cell Therapeutics team, who will help bring gene and cell therapies to patients. This individual will be responsible for advancing Sana's gene therapy platform and T cell programs by performing IND-enabling preclinical experiments while working closely with other members of the gene therapy team and process development teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cell culture: Working with adherent and suspension cell culture, including primary cells
  • Viral vector production: Routine viral vector production, titration, storage, and documentation
  • Flow cytometry: Execution and analysis of multi-color flow cytometry experiments
  • Molecular biology:Molecular cloning using methods such as primer design, PCR, restriction digest/ligation, Gibson or Golden Gate assembly, and plasmid preparation
  • Working closely with other members of the gene therapy and process development teams to share and apply knowledge advancements
  • Reviewing and presenting data cross-functionally at department meetings and larger forums.
  • Comply with standard laboratory practices and company policies, including documentation of all experimental work in an electronic laboratory notebook
  • Perform additional lab tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree in a scientific discipline with 1+ years of laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in mammalian tissue culture and multi-color flow cytometry while adhering to rigorous standards of good lab practices, safety, and documentation.
  • Experience in molecular biology methods including PCR, RT-qPCR, restriction digest/ligation, Gibson/Golden Gate assembly, and plasmid preparation
  • Experience performing viral vector production, process development, and analytics
  • Detail-oriented with good problem-solving, technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-site team
  • Working safely in person on a predictable and regular in-person basis is an essential job function for this position and the Company requires that all individuals working in-person, subject to certain exceptions, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of immunology with a focus on T cell biology
  • Gene editing experience using CRISPR
  • Familiarity with protein structure and function/protein engineering
  • A strong self-starter and independent thinker with a strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of R, Python, JMP, Spotfire, Benchling and FlowJo software

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to work in a clean and sanitary laboratory environment
  • Wear laboratory personal protective equipment
  • Work within a biosafety cabinet
  • Perform work in standing and sitting positions
  • Perform periodic repetitive manipulations
  • Some weekend and/or off-shift work may be required
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
