The Company’s proprietary oncolytic virus platform is based on technology developed by scientific founder Clodagh O’Shea, Ph.D., of the Salk Institute. It is designed to address key limitations of first- and second-generation oncolytic viruses and provide a personalized therapy for cancer patients.

Summary of Position

We are seeking a Translational Scientist to assist with IconOVir’s discovery and development efforts. Reporting to the Head of Translational Research, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and progressing new product opportunities from analysis of drug projects to developing and leading pre-clinical and clinical validation project plans, and will influence strategic direction based on new core science and/or disease opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform method development and sample analysis for PK/PD, immunogenicity, and MOA readouts to support preclinical and clinical programs. Develop, perform and optimize cell-based immunoassays, including MSD, ELISA, flow cytometry, qPCR, and Digital Droplet PCR Conduct cytotoxicity assays, plaque assays, and viral shedding assays Collaborate with, and manage, CROs to identify predictive biomarkers with an emphasis on the development and validation of pharmacodynamic assays to support pre-clinical studies Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail Analyze and interpret data, prepare summary tables and review raw data Supervise and train analysts and junior scientists and troubleshoot assays Write SOPs, study plans, and reports, and maintain appropriate documentation and audit trail Work closely with cross-functional teams to advance pipeline development Formulate biomarker strategies in collaboration with internal program teams Contribute to regulatory documents summarizing translational strategy Communicate scientific progress to company leadership and key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • The scientist will be Ph.D. with at least 2-3yrs of experience Senior Scientist will be Ph.D. + 4-5yrs of postdoc Proven experience with the development of PK/PD assays, immunogenicity assays, and immune cell-based in vitro assays Experience developing and running cell-based immunoassays, including MSD, ELISA, flow cytometry, qPCR, and Digital Droplet PCR; and cytotoxicity assays, plaque assays, and viral shedding assays Experience in designing and conducting IHC Experience in managing and/or working with CROs Oncology and/or immunology knowledge is highly preferred Experience in preparing documents/reports/submissions for regulatory agencies and maintaining an audit trail, along with previous interactions with regulatory authorities
