OPPORTUNITY

The Buyer and Inventory Manager plays a critical role to assure that all employees have ready access to the materials and services needed to do their jobs. This role processes all purchase requests promptly and verifies on-time delivery to assure excellent service to employees. This role will assure optimal stocking levels of materials, easy access for users and continuously improve inventory management practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Process purchase requests into NetSuite POs and confirm with vendors
    • Follow up to assure vendors fulfill all order expectations accurately and on time
    • Partner with Receiving to resolve any discrepancies between POs and receipts
    • Partner with Accounts Payable to ensure vendor invoice compliance with POs
    • Develop purchasing systems to continuously improve efficiency, usability and service level to employees
    • Develop and maintain procedures that enable cross-training and consistent execution
    • Provide performance feedback to key suppliers using standard metrics (quality, delivery, cost, service)
    • Establish inventory management processes, including physical setup (5S, racks, bins), replenishment methods (kanban, MRP) and inventory counts
    • Develop inventory management systems to improve inventory control and scalability
    • Execute a consistent routine of monitoring inventory and replenishment orders
    • Partner with key lab stakeholders to adjust scope of stocked materials and stock levels to meet shifts in demand. Routine check-ins to assure alignment.
    • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Knowledge of inventory management best practices, both from systems and physical handling perspectives
    • Experience managing end-to-end material flows (request, purchase, receive, stock, consume, pay) in a life sciences research or production environment
    • Minimum of one year of experience with supply chain responsibilities in a life sciences company


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Strong desire to learn and develop the skills and experience necessary to meet the rapid growth in needs as the company grows
    • Experience managing purchases of a wide variety of goods and services, including resolving receiving and invoice issues
    • Experience driving vendors to fulfill order expectations and collaborating to solve problems to meet employee needs
    • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver excellent service and results
    • Able to determine the appropriate stock levels, factoring in risks, lead time, space constraints, shelf life and variability in demand
    • Able to implement the planning tools (MRP, ROP, Kanban) that will efficiently manage desired stock levels and trigger replenishment
    • Able to map processes, identify potential improvements and drive solutions
    • Proactive mindset and consistently following through to finish tasks and projects
    • Able to drive projects with little guidance or direction
