Senior Lab Associate / Lab Manager, Media Development and Services

Just is seeking a motivated and hardworking team member who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This person will join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team to manage a service group that supplies media and buffers for process development scientists. Responsibilities include scheduling the day-to-day service operations required to fill orders, managing and training group members, and working with purchasing and vendors to ensure an adequate supply of materials. The position will also play a key role in supporting our new pilot scale process development lab. Strong teamwork, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively over teleconference and web-based meetings, are key. Additionally, the successful candidate will be highly organized, have a keen attention to detail, and a proven ability to manage activities to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate is curious, creative, engaged, works well independently and in teams, and constantly looks for ways to improve processes and efficiencies.

This full-time position will initially train at our Seattle, WA site.

Responsibilities:

• In a highly collaborative environment, ensure media and buffer orders are delivered to internal groups in a timely and flexible fashion
• Use routine analytics to ensure consistency, and identify possible deviations in produced formulations and take any corrective actions required
• Work with internal groups to anticipate upcoming activity and plan appropriately
• Work with internal groups and vendors to ensure a ready stock of lab materials
• Train and manage lab associates
• Ensure a clean, organized, and functioning work environment
• Support other groups with solution preparation and lab maintenance activities
• Directly support lab activities as needed
• Autoclave solution and cell culture assemblies as needed
• Proactively look for opportunities to improve processes and onboard new technologies

Preferred qualifications:

• Associate degree in a relevant field with 6+ years working in a life science laboratory setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Familiarity formulating cell culture media and common life science buffers
• Demonstrated experience in scheduling and completing lab support activities
• Experience training associates
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Drive Suite applications
• Ability to lift 30 pounds

Pluses:

• Experience with 6S/Lean or other methodology for efficiency
• Direct experience formulating cell culture media
• Prior management experience
