Position Overview

Nektar has an exciting opportunity for a Biosample Associate I to join their team.

We are seeking a Biosample Associate I to join our Bioanalytical Development Department. This position is primarily responsible for management of clinical samples in support of various early and late stage clinical studies. Other duties may be assigned as needed or as time permits. This position will work closely with the lead Biosample Associate to ensure accurate receipt and tracking of samples and with other departmental members for sample analysis. This position will also collaborate with members of Clinical Sample Management to resolve sample and shipping discrepancies.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage clinical sample inventory including receipt from the clinical site or central lab, login/logout and disposal as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Track sample history and storage location using Watson LIMS.
  • Ensure end-to-end chain of custody documentation.
  • Maintain all shipment records in the electronic notebook.
  • Actively work with external vendors to resolved samples discrepancies.
  • Maintain long-term clinical samples storage to meet SOP and regulatory expectations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a science related field is preferred.
  • 0-1 years of work experience
  • Must be detailed oriented, organized, and able to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Work independently and as part of a team demonstrating good interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with human and animal blood products.
  • Must have good computer skills and be proficient working with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Experience with electronic notebooks or databases software a plus.
  • Familiarity or experience working in regulated (GxP) environment is a plus.
Employees must be able to lift or handle objects greater than 25 pounds to perform certain duties essential to the job function. Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals, pharmaceutical agents, and/or biohazardous materials. Employees may be required to enroll in a medical surveillance program based on the potential exposure to certain health hazards encountered as a result of their job function.
