JOB PURPOSE

Sana Biotechnology is looking to expand our team with hard-working individuals who believe in the potential of cells as engineered medicines, have the vision to do creative things, and the determination to execute upon that vision. As a member of the Development Sciences, Bioanalytical sciences group, you will work within a highly dynamic and cross-functional environment on projects of diverse scope and across multiple therapeutic areas. To accelerate the development of transformative medicines, we seek a candidate to enhance Sana's essential bioanalytical capabilities, specifically in the area of ligand binding and cell-based assays in support of discovery, pre-IND studies, platform and research programs. In this role, you will perform in vitro experiments in support of gene and cell therapy drug development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated technical proficiency, exhibit scientific rigor and independent thought as well as the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve problems in creative and effective ways.
  • Laboratory focused position, directly contribute to data generation
  • Work under the supervision of Scientist / Senior Scientist of higher while demonstrating high level of independence, specifically in experimental design and execution
  • Assist with development of robust and reliable Ligand Binding Assays, including ELISA, ECL MSD, Luminex; Enzymatic activity assays and other platform methods
  • Assist with development of robust and reliable Cell based analytical protocols, including various reporter gene, Flow cytometry and other analytical platform methods. Work with various types of cells, including hepatocytes, T-cells and PBMC's
  • Apply analytical protocols for detecting protein concentrations in various biological matrices, cell media and other matrices
  • Apply analytical protocols for detecting immunogenicity responses against biotherapeutics and other components in various biological matrices. This includes detection of Anti-Drug Antibodies (ADA) and Neutralizing Antibodies (Nab)
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation and be able to draw main conclusions regarding progress and results of work, utilizing the data in appropriate decision making
  • Carefully and diligently document experimental information as per the company policies. Make detailed observations, interpret results and document experimental methods in a well-maintained laboratory notebook
  • Present results at team meetings as appropriate
  • Facilitate discussion with other team members as necessary to ensure completion of team projects
  • Comply with company policies

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with 3-5+ years of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting and proven proficiency performing independent research.
  • Hands on experience with development of Ligand Binding Assays (LBA)
  • Hands-on experience working with cell lines (primary and immortalized), demonstrated competence in sterile cell culture technique
  • Experience in the development of cell-based assays
  • Understanding of Bioanalytical principles
  • Familiarity with principles of Immunogenicity response against biotherapeutics
  • Collaborative skills and effective partnering skills in a complex, fast pace environment
  • Excellent teamwork
  • Adaptability to changing work assignments and priorities
  • Able to identify opportunities for continuous improvements and enable implementation
  • Ability to proactively engage groups with diverse functions within a highly matrixed organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and data quality
  • Working safely in person on a predictable and regular in-person basis is an essential job function for this position and the Company requires that all individuals working in-person, subject to certain exceptions, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
