Position Overview:

Molecular Templates is seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated professional to provide system and technical support to internal customers and to maintain technology assets. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing direct IT support to users, documenting IT issues and resolutions, maintaining technology assets, providing system and technical training, and assisting with defining processes and standards.

The position requires an in-depth understanding of implementing technology solutions and improvements. This requires problem solving, system analysis and design knowledge, organizational and time-management skills and verbal and written communication skills; plus, ability to apply attention to detail and manage competing priorities.

Job Responsibilities will include:
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups
  • Ensure security of data, network, servers, and backup systems
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures
  • Troubleshoot, identify root cause and resolve technical issues
  • Fully document IT support issues and their resolution for increased team efficiency in meeting customer needs
  • Execute and help define IT processes and standards
  • Enforce company security policies
  • Assist other IT staff in various IT projects, as needed

Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or similar field required
  • Minimum of six (6) years relevant experience as an IT System Administrator in network, server administration, maintenance and support
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Experience with scripting and operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
  • Hands-on experience and expertise with virtualization and administration of servers, On-premises and Azure
  • Experience with network management, segmentation and administration
  • Experience using an ITSM tool to manage IT Incidents and Service Request
  • Technical IT Certification, preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and project management skills
  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency to resolve internal customer IT issues and delivers results in an efficient and timely manner for a Customer-first and results orientation
  • Possess the skill to work successfully within a team and build effective working relationships
  • Ability to synthesize complex information from data from multiple sources
  • Capability to apply attention to detail, prioritize tasks and manage projects to meet requirements and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive and high-volume environment

Reporting Structure:

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to the IT Manager
