Fate Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated associate scientist/ senior research associate specialized in immunology and immunotherapy to support the discovery of next-generation off-the-shelf induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived CAR-T (CAR-iT) cell therapeutic products. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and the investigation of novel modalities to enhance CAR-iT cell performance in vitro and will conduct such activities in collaboration with multiple internal and external groups, including academic leaders in the field of immunotherapy. This is a full-time bench-level position reporting to a Senior Scientist, Cancer Immunotherapy and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities
• Support the investigation of novel modalities to enhance CAR-iT cell performance leveraging
best-in-class Fate iT cancer immunotherapy platform.
• Establish tools such as tumor lines via lentivirus transduction for CAR-iT functional assays.
• Conduct CAR-iT cell differentiation and phenotype characterization.
• Evaluate CAR-iT cells with in vitro functional assays, such as cytokine release/degranulation,
short/long-term killing, proliferation assays.
• Conduct research with precise data analysis.
• Interpretate, communicate and deliver results in a timely manner.
• Lead small projects and present results in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Daily laboratory maintenance including ordering and maintaining stocks of lab reagents.

Qualifications
• MS/BS degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Biology or related fields with a
minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (level depends on education and experience).
• Biotech experience preferred.
• Proven track record of contributing to projects in immunology, cancer biology or cell biology.
• Extensive aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture experience with a minimal of 3 years of
hands-on experience.
• Experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry, preferably 8+ color.
• Positive outlook, willingness to learn and contribute, detail-oriented, and a team-oriented
attitude.
• Experience with immune cell functional assays and gene editing of T cells by transfection or
transduction is a plus.
• Experience with human CAR-T cells is a plus.
• Knowledge on T cell development, T cell signal transduction, or cellular immunotherapy in
oncology is a plus.

• Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
• 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
