Fate Therapeutics Process Development group is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Scientist or Associate Scientist with expertise in Immunology, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC), Cell Biology or Process Development to join a team dedicated to the development of next-generation off-the-shelf induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived CAR-T (CAR-iT) cell therapeutics products. The successful candidate will be part of our Process Development team to further develop and optimize Fate's best-in-class iPSC platform for robust, large-scale delivery of high-performing CAR-iT products. This is a full-time laboratory position reporting to a Scientist in Process Development and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities
• Execution of defined batch records for the differentiation and culturing of iPSC-
derived T (iT) cells
• Immune cell phenotyping using multi-parameter flow cytometry
• Conduct routine immune cell functional assays, including proliferation, cytokine
release, in vitro cytotoxicity and persistence, in vivo and ex vivo assays
• Investigate, develop and implement novel strategies to optimize the differentiation
protocol
• Plan, coordinate and conduct experiments, analyze data and deliver results in a
timely and precise manner
• Help with routine lab activities including ordering and maintaining reagent stocks
• Participate and present data in internal and cross-functional team meetings

Qualifications
• PhD in immunology, cell biology or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of
relevant experience preferred, or M.S. in biology or related fields with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred
• Proven track record of leading or contributing to projects in immunology or cell biology
• Knowledge of T cell biology required. Prior experience with in vitro differentiation of iPSC or cell therapy is highly preferred
• In-depth experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry (8+ colors preferably)
• Extensive aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture experience
• Experience with immune cell functional assays is a plus
• Excellent record keeping and attention to details
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust workload based upon
changing priorities
• Positive outlook, willingness to learn and team-oriented attitude

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
• Will require working with hazardous materials
• Evening and weekend work as necessary
• 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
