We are seeking a motivated scientist who has a strong background in genetic engineering and molecular biology, who seeks the opportunity to delve more into creation/generation of new animal models for research and drug development, as well as design of therapeutic reagents. This scientist will also have the opportunity to further grow your skills in the technology development arena. This role offer a breadth of exposure with opportunities to work on a variety of disease models across various therapeutic focus areas.

As the Scientist, VI Next a typical day might include the following:
  • Designing targeting vectors to make very complex knockouts and knock ins and humanizations.
  • In vitro and in vivo engineering of antigen receptors (antibody, antibody-like molecules, TCR, and TCR-like molecules).
  • Designing of siRNA and antisense oligos (ASO) as well as sgRNA and repair templates/vectors as candidate reagents for CRISPR based gene therapy. Improving designing tools/algorithms.
  • Coordinating and troubleshooting with VI Next group and with other Regeneron Target Focus Areas (TFA) scientists.
  • Maintaining scientific curiosity and familiarity with current advances in gene editing and siRNA/ASO technologies and literatures, and apply such knowledge toward development of new or improved technologies

  • You are dedicated to collaboration and have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You have diplomacy skills and are flexible in collaborating with a diverse scientific staff

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD and at least 4 years research experience in molecular biology with proven experience in diverse cloning strategies. Thorough understanding of eukaryote gene structure (promotors, exons/introns, polyA signals) and protein structure (signal sequences, transmembrane and other protein domains). Experience with genome browsers and basic bioinformatics resources are desired. Knowledge in antibody structure and experience with antibody engineering and remodeling is strongly preferred. Good understanding of different mechanisms of gene editing and gene regulating tools, such as CRISPR/sgRNA, siRNA and ASO are pluses but not required. Previous hands-on experience is highly desired. Proven experience in computer sequence manipulation software. Experience in molecular biology including genome editing approaches, bacterial recombineering, and development of animal research models is highly desirable.
