Job Details

We are seeking a PhD scientist to join our dynamic and highly collaborative neuroscience team. This scientist will support our R&D efforts on neurological disorders. A key focus will also be the exploration of key mechanisms underlying neuro-degeneration and diseases of the nervous system, with a focus on the involvement of the gut-brain axis. You will also do target discovery and preclinical validation of novel therapeutics as well as the development of new models and technologies.

As a Scientist on the Neuroscience team, a typical day might include the following:
• Exploring novel mechanisms underlying protein misfolding and spread leading to neuro-degeneration in the enteric, peripheral and central nervous systems to uncover new therapeutic targets.
• Studying the in-depth molecular signatures of cellular components of the gut-brain axis in health and disease using RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics.
• Designing and conducting thorough in vitro and in vivo experiments to study disease pathophysiology from the gut to the brain and validate new targets.
• Testing therapeutic modalities and support technology development to improve targeted drug delivery to the nervous system and into specific cell types of interest.
• Performing data analysis as well as troubleshooting independently.

This role might be for you if:
• You are dynamic and self motivated.
• You are collaborative and have strong interpersonal skills.
• You have excellent communication and organizational skills.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD in Biology or Neuroscience with a minimum of 2 years of relevant post-doctoral experience. The candidate must have research experience in neuroscience, gut-brain and/or neuro-degeneration. Expertise in a wide range of in vitro and in vivo assays: molecular and cellular biology techniques, biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, primary or iPSC-derived neuronal cultures, surgery and behavioral assays. Experience with single-nuclei RNAseq, single-cell RNAseq and/or spatial transcriptomics is highly desirable. Excellent publication record is also highly desirable.
