Regeneron is seeking a new (Associate) Director of Process Characterization in the Process Sciences Department of our Industrial Operations and Product Supply (IOPS) Organization. The successful candidate will lead Regeneron's laboratory-scale process characterization program by shaping its strategic vision and guiding a world-class technical team. This program establishes qualified laboratory scale models of Regeneron's manufacturing processes and applies these models to characterize cell banks and define acceptable ranges for a variety of operational parameters. This work supplies process knowledge to the overall manufacturing system, regulatory filings, and the deviation management system. The ideal candidate has a strong background in bioprocessing, excels at leading people, and has a proven history of cross-functional internal and external industrial collaboration. This new leader has an opportunity to shape the mission of a talented group of scientists and engineers with the goal of preventing and solving manufacturing challenges at Regeneron.

As an Associate Director in Process Sciences, a typical day might include the following:
• Guiding the development and dissemination of robust models and process understanding to prevent and resolve manufacturing challenges and feedback on process development
• Coaching and mentoring managers of a large team to encourage professional growth and quality results for Regeneron with an emphasis on employee engagement
• Collaborating with scientific partner groups to understand and communicate business needs
• Aligning the process characterization and lifecycle management program with the business needs to achieve the greatest impact
• Staying current with bioprocessing industry process characterization and technology trends
• Representing Regeneron at industry conferences and Consortia (e.g., BPOG) passionate about Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
• Developing and implementing best in class technologies

This role might be for you if:
• You enjoy working in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment making medicines addressing serious diseases
• You think strategically and adopt good ideas from all sources, then direct and support others to achieve those strategic goals
• You have a deep expertise in either Upstream or Downstream bioprocessing, and familiarity with the overall biopharmaceutical manufacturing process.
• Your experience includes extensive experience with statistical methods and statistical process control

To be considered for an Associate Director (Process Sciences) position you must have a BS in life sciences, engineering, or related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience OR 12+ years of experience for Director level. Level will be determined based on qualifications relevant to the position. Advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry preferred. Direct people leadership experience is required.
