We are growing our locations and are investing more than $2 billion into establishing a new large-scale manufacturing site for biopharmaceuticals in the United States to accelerate the growth of our Bio CDMO (Contract and Development Manufacturing Organization) business. This will be the largest end-to-end cell culture CDMO provider in North America.

The new site will offer end-to-end solutions to our customers looking to manufacture biopharmaceuticals in the US. In addition to drug substance manufacture, it will also provide automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services. The new site is to be located in Holly Springs, North Carolina, United States.

As the Head of Head of Sustainability & ESG, you will play a key strategic role in leading the build-out of our ambitious Sustainability & ESG program while identifying opportunities for partnerships. The role requires experience and interest in building and maintaining partnerships/ relationships with different stakeholder groups while being able to make an impact and report on key factors that influence our team members, our customers, our environment, and our business.

As Head of Sustainability & ESG, you will be reporting directly to the Project Lead/ Head of Plant Functions and collaborate and coordinate across functions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain partnership and relationships with different stakeholders
  • Lead and drive the build-out and strategic development of the multi-pronged strategy for the Sustainability & ESG program
  • Collaborate and coordinate across functions in the project, creating and driving engagement opportunities that serve employees, suppliers, consumers and partners while aligning with FDB's mission and vision
  • Drive the Sustainability & ESG agenda to support the organization's objectives, mission, and vision.
  • Work in partnership with FDB's local community partners
  • Ensure delivery and implementation of solutions in accordance with the Sustainability & ESG strategy and targets
  • Manage Sustainability & ESG target setting
  • Present and align solutions and their impact with senior project team
  • Report on status, e.g. on the set targets, to the senior project team. Create dashboards and reporting to track performance for various audiences (employees, management, executive leadership, stakeholders, etc.)
  • Work with the FUJIFILM organization to ensure alignment between corporate and project Sustainability & ESG strategies
  • Work with leadership to enhance FDB's reputation as an employer of choice, a responsible community member and key local partner.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the numerous levels of government including state, county, municipal and local government authorities.
  • Advise, implement, and participate in community engagement opportunities. Act as liaison to various community groups, involving developing grassroot efforts to further enhance the sustainability and ESG efforts of the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and implement successful marketing, corporate communication and PR strategies as they relate to sustainability and ESG efforts.
  • Act as a thought leader in sustainability and ESG, understanding current and future challenges with the industry, as well as local social climate, and educating and prioritizing these issues with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with the following background and skill sets:

  • Bachelor's Degree related to communication, environmental science, business, finance or equivalent
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in driving and advocating partnerships and relationships with local, national, regional, and global stakeholder groups
  • 10+ years of related work experience within community development related services with a track record of effectively developing and managing programs in an empowered and changing environment
  • Broad and proven knowledge of Sustainability & ESG related matters and the ability to implement the knowledge into work practices
  • Strong influencing, collaboration, oral and written communications skills
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills
  • Experience leading and facilitating group process and collaboration
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills required with ability to track, measure and identify improvement solutions
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, moving and managing projects with different objectives, milestones, and deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Creative thinker and problem-solver with strong interest in executing new strategies to drive increasing value to our customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders, and employees.
