Responsibilities

The Gladstone Institutes, in collaboration with the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), invites applications for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in biomedical research, including genome engineering, imaging, nanotechnology, metabolomics, synthetic biology, cell targeting or genomics.

Gladstone is a renowned center of excellence focused on applying basic science to disease. We are an independent, not-for-profit research organization affiliated with UCSF and located in an award winning building adjacent to UCSF's Mission Bay Campus. Our science contributes to the health and wellbeing of all people through research, education, and outreach in the areas of cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, and virology and immunology.

Gladstone recently launched an initiative to establish a "Convergence Zone", which will be a vibrant group of labs and core facilities focused on emerging and highly innovative technologies for biomedical research. We aim to build on our expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, stem cell biology and proteomics through the addition of faculty with research programs focused on developing new technologies and actively applying them in collaborations spanning diverse areas of biomedical research.

Qualifications

We invite applications from scientists with Ph.D. and/or M.D. degrees who are established leaders in technology oriented fields. Candidates should have a research program that includes developing new approaches or platforms.

The successful candidate will have an appointment with the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences but will derive support from the Gladstone Institutes. The UCSF appointment will include affiliation with appropriate university programs such as the Institute for Computational Health Sciences , Integrative Program in Quantitative Biology Graduate Program , the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3), and the Institute for Human Genetics .
